HGV Drivers

Our Drivers are crucial to Gist. They play a key role in transporting products to and from our UK-wide distribution centres and customer stores. They champion road safety, live our culture and build successful careers within Transport.

Aspiring HGV drivers (either Class E holders or provisional licence holders) can jump the queue for training and sit their Class C+E driving test by applying directly to us, as we have launched our own fully-accredited HGV training and testing centre. These drivers will gain their HGV Class C+E licence and will soon be driving for Gist!

DRIVING ACADEMY

Gist’s Driving Academy is now taking applications. Anyone with a full UK driving licence can apply – no prior HGV driving experience is required.

Gist will cover your costs for training, travel, accommodation and Category C+E licence* – this will save you up to £5,000 compared to self-funding. Successful participants could receive their Category C+E certification in seven to 14 days.

DRIVER APPRENTICESHIPS

We recognise that the key to our success is our people. For us to deliver the best service to our customers, maintain a strong reputation and continue to grow we need to recruit and develop the right people. That is why we are giving you the chance to start your driving career with us as part of our new Driver Apprenticeship Scheme where you will gain experience in all aspects of professional driving as well as gaining your HGV license. 

Throughout the programme, you will receive support from our site and central operational and people teams at every step of your journey.

Warehouse Operatives

At the core of our sites within the UK & Ireland are our team of Warehouse Operatives.

Warehoues Operatives play a key role working in a chilled environment, handling goods from intake through to dispatch, loading and unloading vehicles whilst adhering to our health and safety culture at site.

The teams are responsible for scanning and picking different products and moving stock, showing great attention to detail ensuring stock accuracy, and working with our modern electronic voice equipment.

Operational Admin

Our Operational administration teams help coordinate the Transport and Warehouse departments, they work around the clock to support the needs of our customers. Each site team strives to achieve and exceed agreed service levels.

The Administration teams support the site in a variety of ways, helping to run an efficient and effective service. Tasks include including processing orders; managing customer enquiries; as well as deliveries and returns – just as you would expect in a busy distribution centre.

Our Administration roles are a great way to gain insight into the world of logistics and kick-start your career.

Operational Management

Our Operational management teams drive our business to achieve and deliver the best possible warehouse productivity and transport efficiencies whilst managing and maintaining effective control of costs.

The site leadership teams consist of experienced General Managers, Logistics Managers, Warehouse Managers, and Operational and Team Managers.

Our teams work hard to achieve the overall business objectives and pride ourselves on developing and coaching our teams to succeed. We invest in the best people, who are passionate about achieving. 

Engineering

We are passionate about delivering value across the business and to our customers.

In order to do that, we have a team of Technicians,  Engineering & Maintenance Managers who ensure the operation is run as safely and efficiently as possible.

With automated warehouse equipment and fleets to maintain, we’ll make sure we give you the tools and training to keep our site running and a career in which you can develop.

Head Office

Located at the newly-refurbished Chineham Park in Basingstoke is our head office.

Our head office is home to an array of central functions as well as core operational teams. Our national Network Planning Centre is our central transport planning hub, and our Global Freight team ensures the safe delivery and planning of worldwide freight logistics. Other central functions located at our head office include HR, Finance, Communications, IT, Business Solutions, and our senior leadership team. 

Chineham Park features fantastic transport links including a free bus service to town and Basingstoke Railway Station, as well as a host of amenities, including a shared cafe, electric car charging points, a gym, a nursery, and a dedicated events and wellbeing team.
