Supply chain expert Gist has recruited Mike Watkins as Managing Director, Contract Logistics effective June 2019.

Mike brings a wealth of experience, having worked within the Logistics Industry for over 20 years including senior positions at M&S and Yodel.

“I was always impressed with the quality of the people at Gist, and that has been reinforced in my first few days.” Says Mike, speaking about his decision to join the company. “When considering joining a business, it’s important that there is a cultural fit, and that the values of the business match the values of the person – I really believe that is the case here, and it’s fantastic to see those values being lived every day.”

Mike will be responsible for Gist’s Contract Logistics business, which provides chilled and ambient warehouse and transport for Gist’s customers – although primarily focused on Mike’s previous employer M&S Foods. “At M&S I was responsible for the Food Logistics business and enjoyed a close working relationship with the Gist team. Through working together, we drove many changes and improvements to the business.” Says Mike.

“There is a great deal of momentum and more to come,” he continues. “I’ve always believed that we will do the best for our own business by doing the best for our customers, and this will allow us to grow in the right way. I want to grow our customer portfolio and ensure we have a sustainable business that offers opportunities for our people.”
